Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a full-time farmer in Western Wisconsin where I raise meat goats and sheep on pasture using regenerative and rotational grazing practices.

I created this website because
I had so many people reaching out, both locally and beyond, wanting to know more about how I was raising and marketing goats.

I also recognized that it IS so hard to find information in this space. I wanted to share what I've learned along the way and reduce your time searching the depths of the internet.

I may earn affiliate income from links in the blog post, including through the Amazon Associates program as well as other brand partnerships. I only promote products I actually use in my farm and business.

ULINE supplies for packing and shipping orders from the farm

Preparing customer orders takes more than just pulling product, it takes a range of supplies to run a retail farm business. Over time, ULINE has become one of our main sources for packing, shipping, and office essentials.

Since they only offer free shipping once a year (this year’s code is SP673, good through 9/28/25), I like to stock up when the deal comes around. Here’s a look at the ULINE products we use most, how we put them to work, and a video where I walk through them in action.

Packing and shipping supplies

These are the essentials that keep our goat meat boxes and other farm products safe and professional when they arrive at our customer’s doorsteps.

While we purchase our insulated box liners in bulk from another vendor, we have ordered insulated liners from ULINE to trial different sizes or get liners quicker or in smaller quantities. We also order all our cardboard shipping boxes from ULINE.

  • Thermal box panels
    • S-21105 – 10 x 10 x 10″
    • S-21106 – 12 x 12 x 12″
Insulated liners rated for 72 hours.
  • Corrugated boxes
    • S-4142 – 14 x 14 x 14″
    • S-4125 – 12 x 12 x 12″
    • S-4105 – 10 x 10 x 10″
Our standard shipping boxes are sturdy, stackable, and sized for different orders and goes with our insulated liners (from ULINE or our other vendor). There are lots of other box options.
  • Industrial tape and dispenser
    • S-200 – ULINE Industrial Tape, 2 mil, 2″ x 55 yds, clear
    • H-150 – Side Loader Tape Dispenser
I like this tape since it not only works well, but is also rated for cold temperature, which is nice when orders go out in the winter, but also if I need to stick a pack boxed in our walk-in freezer.
  • Kraft envelope bags
    • Merchandise Bags – 7 1⁄2 x 10 1⁄2″, #7, Kraft
Used for holding any order inserts in our customer boxes, such as packing slips, recipe cards, brochures
  • Paper bags for dry ice
    • S-13242 – 8 1/4 x 5 15/16 x 13 3/8″, #20, kraft shorty
I use these for dry ice. I weigh out the amount needed and put it in the bag with a safety sticker on top. I like this size because I can also just slide a whole block into the bag.
  • Ice packs
    • S-14294 – 7.5 oz, 4.5 x 4 x 0.75″
When we use ice packs with orders, cold bricks have been rated to hold their frozen state longer than traditional ice packs.  We do use dry ice in most of our orders, but we will add ice packs depending on the temperature in the summer, or if it is winter and a shipment is next day, we may use multiple ice packs without dry ice.
  • Other packing supplies
    • S-11539 – Paper Grocery Bags, 12 x 7 x 21 3/4″, 1/4 barrel, kraft
We use these bags for pick up orders since they’re rated for 66 pounds, which works well for frozen meat orders. This is also the largest weight rated paper bag ULINE carries.
    • S-9713 – Crinkle Paper, 40 lb, kraft
We will use this as a filler with special holiday orders/boxes. It looks nicer presentation wise compared to when we regularly use bubble fillers or shredded boxes.

Pack shed office and organization supplies

These supplies help us stay organized, make packing more efficient, and keep the workspace running smoothly.

  • Label dispenser
    • H-587 – Deluxe Label Dispenser, 13″
Keeps shipping roll labels neat and easy to grab when packing orders. We use these with our stickers: branded, dry ice, perishable stickers and others.
  • Markers
    • H-255BL – Sharpie King Size, black
    • H-286BL – Sharpie Fine Tip, black
    • S-19421BL – Sharpie Ultra Fine, black
Sharpies are handy in general. I like the fine tip markers for writing notes to customers. The king size ones are great for writing on boxes stored in our pack shed or even walk in freezer.
  • Safety cutter
    • H-2723O – Safety box cutter, orange
I use these primarily for opening supply orders that come to the farm, but also breaking down boxes from the butcher. It’s safer than a box cutter and helps speed up the process of breaking down or opening boxes.
  • Utility supply cart
    • H-2504BL – ULINE Utility Cart, 45 x 25 x 33″, black
We use this cart to keep our smaller shipping supplies organized and I can easily move it to where I’m packing orders. I keep a variety of supplies on it: markers, pens, sticker dispenser, dry ice bags, order totes
  • Open top Rubbermaid totes
    • S-19500GR – 20 x 15 x 5″, gray
I use these for pulling orders before I pack boxes. If I need to prep orders a day or two earlier I can stack them back in the walk in freezer. I also use them to help sort cuts of meat by size ranges when I’m working on inventory.
    • Pallet racks
Storage for insulated liners, boxes and larger items in the pack shed where we pull and prepare orders. Helps keep everything organized and off the floor.
  • Pamphlet holders
    • S-12206 – 4-tier pamphlet holder
We use these to display recipe cards, our cooking guide, and farm brochure. It works well for organizing these items in our pack shed, but also when we do pop up markets or events.
  • Outdoor brochure holder
    • S-12207 – Outdoor brochure holder
Keeps materials available for customers outside the warehouse door.
  • Foldable cart
    • H-5040 – Folding Handi-Mover
I love this cart for unloading and hauling boxes into our UPS distribution center. It folds up, yet is durable enough to carry multiple boxes.

Other farm use

Not everything we order is just for shipping, one item we do order:

  • Exam grade nitrile gloves
    • S-12549 – nitrile gloves, Primarily used for veterinary work.
