Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a full-time farmer in Western Wisconsin where I raise meat goats and sheep on pasture using regenerative and rotational grazing practices.

I created this website because
I had so many people reaching out, both locally and beyond, wanting to know more about how I was raising and marketing goats.

I also recognized that it IS so hard to find information in this space. I wanted to share what I've learned along the way and reduce your time searching the depths of the internet.

How to Price Goat Meat

I don’t know about you, but for me there’s nothing quite like the feeling of finding just the right tool for the task I’m trying to accomplish, especially when it comes to life here on the farm.

That’s why I’m so excited to share this amazing online tool from Cornell University – the Meat Price Calculator! While basing goat meat prices off of what your competition is doing (i.e, other farms, grocery stores) is a good place to start, it’s important to also know your own cost of production, what you want your margins to be and then factoring those into a pricing structure that makes sense for selling and what is realistic in your market. This tool, developed by the Cornell Program on Agribusiness and Rural Development can help you do all that and more.

If you’re based in the East Coast (specifically in NY, MA or NC) you can make a free account and save and edit your price lists, but otherwise you can still use the calculator as a guest for reference.

Check out my walkthrough and tutorial of the Cornell Meat Price Calculator tool below!
