Hi I'm Leslie

I'm a full-time farmer in Western Wisconsin where I raise meat goats and sheep on pasture using regenerative and rotational grazing practices.

I created this website because
I had so many people reaching out, both locally and beyond, wanting to know more about how I was raising and marketing goats.

I also recognized that it IS so hard to find information in this space. I wanted to share what I've learned along the way and reduce your time searching the depths of the internet.

Smarter farm marketing with ChatGPT

I may earn affiliate income from links in the blog post. I only promote products I actually use in my farm and business.

Farm marketing is a critical part of running a farm-to-fork business. To stay relevant, maintain communication with existing customers, and attract new ones, marketing has to be an all-the-time effort. It can’t just happen when you feel like it or when you have something to sell.

One of the tools I’ve been using in my farm business is ChatGPT, a form of artificial intelligence (AI). Now, before you start getting concerned, let me be clear. I’m using it as an assistant, not a replacement, for my marketing work. I use it to help fine-tune messaging and ideas, proofread and edit content, brainstorm email subject lines and blog topics, and even write basic code for my website.

I don’t just ask it to create something from scratch and copy and paste it. Most of the time, it sounds too generic, either overly formal or a little too cheerleader-like. It can also give incorrect information. There’s definitely an ethical gray area in how to use tools like this, but that’s part of running a business. Integrity should always be at the core of your work. If it’s not, well, that’s a topic for another blog post.

While it might be tempting to let it do all your marketing, especially if marketing isn’t your favorite task, it really works best as a support tool that makes your own content even better. It can also help you get more use out of what you’ve already created, like turning a blog post into social media captions or newsletter blurbs. That means you can save time and stay consistent.

Below you’ll find a video where I demo one example of how ChatGPT can be your assistant in repurposing marketing content. In the video, I show how I take content from my website and use it in a different way.

P.S. You might hear me flip my words and use ChatGTP vs Chat GPT. Forgive me I’m a farmer first!

Resources mentioned in the video:

  • ChatGPT – Free account or paid “Plus” account
  • Blogging Smarter with AI course – Even if your farm website doesn’t include a blog, this course is a great resource. It walks through how to incorporate ChatGPT into your marketing routine, keep your content authentic, and discover new content ideas.
